People’s Choice raises $120k for bowel cancer

People's Choice Undies Run[1]At People’s Choice Credit Union, we partnered with Cancer Council SA to create a new mass participation event which raised $121,000 for bowel cancer screening.

The People’s Choice Undies Run for Bowel Cancer was held ahead of the People’s Choice Classic opening race of the Santos Tour Down Under cycling event.

Working alongside Cancer Council SA, People’s Choice created the Undies Run to raise awareness and funds for the on-going fight against bowel cancer. Bowel cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer, with one in 12 Australians developing it by the age of 85.

Reflecting our culture of listening to our members and contributing to the wellbeing of our communities, the impetus for supporting cancer prevention stemmed surveying members about what issues they wanted People’s Choice to address through our corporate social responsibility program.

The inaugural Undies Run exceeded all expectations, with 1225 participants raising $121,000 – enough for more than 4000 bowel screening kits.

More than 100 People’s Choice staff got involved – either in the run or as volunteers helping out on the day.
